Brand-conscious kids

Brand-conscious kids

In a recent Californian study, 63 preschoolers were presented with hamburgers, French fries, chicken nuggets, carrots and milk served in plain packaging, then offered identical foods in McDonalds branded packaging.

When asked which they preferred, for each of the food items the majority of kids said that the McDonalds branded tasted better than unbranded.

Do you think your kids prefer particular brands of foods? What do you think attracts them? Is it the taste, the type of foods, the packaging or the marketing?

There is nothing wrong with that :( :)

I found this study so interesting! I would like to see it done on a larger population including across different socio-demographics. Although I don't have kids, I do have cousins. I would say that they are extremely sensitive to branded packaging or brands of foods.

My son (8) doesn't care too much about the food - it is all about the toy.

Maybe if they had wrapped the unbranded food in some fun packaging, like birthday wrapping paper or something, the kids would have gone for that. Hopefully!
