What we say
BABYBEL Minis are individually wrapped snack-sized balls of cheese. As claimed on the label, they're a 'natural source of calcium' –– each 22g Mini provides 21% of an eight-year-old's daily calcium needs.
They get a red light for fat and salt, but cheese by definition is generally a high-fat, high salt food, so that comes as no surprise. The bonus is that BABYBEL Mini's are half as salty as some other cheese products popular with kids –– KRAFT Cheestiks and KRAFT Singles , for example.
BABYBEL Mini's are a handy snack for lunchboxes. But if your child's a cheese-aholic and one Mini just isn't enough, you may want to look for reduced fat and salt options. And remember, there are other good sources of calcium with much less salt and fat than cheese –– low-fat yogurt or low-fat milk, for example.
