What we say
BELLIS FRU Fruit Strings are promoted as a 'nutritious, delicious' snack. They're made with 65% fruit juice, but they're more like a lolly than a dried fruit strap. Like dried fruit they're high in sugar, but it's not all from the fruit, and they don't have the added benefit of fibre. Just one 'string' will provide around 15% of the daily amount of sugar that's acceptable for an eight-year-old.
A piece of fresh fruit is a much healthier option. It won't stick to your child's teeth and it’ll leave them with a full stomach but fewer fat-forming kilojoules.
Additives listed: citric acid (330), carmine (132), anthocyanin (163).
