What we say
BRATZ Apple Blueberry flavoured fruit drink is cleverly marketed to little girls who think Bratz dolls are cool and like the brightly coloured bottle. The problem is, it's as sweet as it looks.
It's only 5% fruit juice (apple) and not a blueberry to speak of, just blueberry flavour. The sugars in the apple juice combined with added sugar makes BRATZ Apple Blueberry flavoured fruit drink high in sugar - nearly 10%. And one 250ml bottle would provide an 8-year-old girl with over 27% of the amount of sugar she should reasonably consume in a day.
Just like the Bratz dolls, these drinks should be an occasional treat - not something you'd want to give your little girl every day. Plain water is the healthiest drink for kids because it quenches their thirst without overloading them with sugar.
If the appeal of BRATZ drinks is more about the cool bottle than what's inside it, then buy a bottle and once they've finished the drink, refill it with water.
