What we say
It should come as no surprise that, like all honey, CAPILANO Honey is full of sugars - 82.5% to be precise. That's because it's mostly sugars dissolved in water.
Honey is often thought to be healthier and more natural than other forms of sugar. A teaspoon of honey has slightly less sugar and kilojoules than a teaspoon of table sugar. But don't go spreading lashings of honey on the kids' toast - sugars are sugars and they're packed full of kilojoules.
And importantly, honey is not recommended for children less than 12 months old because it's not pasteurised and could contain bacteria that little digestive systems can't manage.
A scrape of CAPILANO Honey on toast or a drizzle on a low sugar breakfast cereal won't do too much damage. But when it comes to your child's total sugar intake, don't forget that honey counts. And it has a similar effect on kids' teeth too.
