What we say
No added sugar, 99% juice, natural colours and flavours, vitamin C, low GI... With all that going for it FUZE Cola would seem to live up to its claim as "a soft drink that not only tastes good but is good for you." So would you be doing yourself a favour drinking it instead of ordinary cola?
In fact FUZE Cola is marginally more fattening (has more kilojoules per serve) than regular COKE. The sugar in FUZE is from apple juice (mostly fructose) whereas COKE is sweetened with ordinary table sugar (sucrose), but sugar is sugar and they're both just as bad for your teeth.
The acidity of these drinks is also bad for your teeth - it causes erosion of the tooth enamel. FUZE Cola is even more acidic than COKE (it has a lower pH), with its higher concentration of enamel-destroying phosphoric acid.
You might get a little vitamin C from the apple juice in FUZE Cola, but if you're concerned about your child's teeth or weight, they're much better off drinking water and eating an apple.
Additives listed: Natural caramel colour (150d), Dimethyl dicarbonate (242), Carbon dioxide (290).
