What we say
In the TV ad, Monica Trapaga told us that KELLOGG'S Coco Pops contain vitamins and minerals, including calcium for healthy bones. What she didn't say is that Coco Pops are 36.5% sugar, and with only 1.2% fibre they're a poor source of fibre compared to many other cereals.
They might not taste salty but KELLOGG'S Coco Pops also make a hefty contribution to a child’s daily sodium intake.
Adding vitamins and minerals to an otherwise unhealthy cereal doesn't make KELLOGG'S Coco Pops a good choice for everyday eating. There are plenty of healthier cereals on the market and even if you added a sprinkle of sugar to them, they'd still be a better choice for the kids. You're better off saving KELLOGG'S Coco Pops for a weekend or school holiday breakfast treat.
We also think that it's inappropriate to use a trusted children’s personality to pass off KELLOGG'S Coco Pops as a healthy cereal for kids.
