What we say
MAINLAND Munchables Milk Protein Bar is all about the protein. One 30g bar contains a quarter of the recommended dietary intake for protein for an eight-year-old. And the back of pack lists the benefits of protein - for growth, bones, teeth, repair, immunity and muscle.
Protein may be all that and more, but do kids really need it from a bar? At the time of the last National Nutrition Survey, Australian children were consuming above and beyond the recommended amount of protein, and it's easily obtained from meat, dairy, nuts, legumes and cereal products as part of a healthy, balanced diet. As an occasional snack you can get worse than a Munchables Milk Protein Bar. But there are better sources of protein - ones without all that added sugar for starters.
Additives listed: emulsifier (471), antioxidant (320), colour (150c), emulsifier (472a).
