What we say
MAMEE Monster Noodle Snacks are crunchy noodles that kids can eat straight from the pack like chips - no cooking required. They're a popular lunchbox snack, and - as the pack claims - they meet the Healthy School Canteen guidelines as an amber food ('select carefully') but only because they're in such small packs (just 25g). The serve size may be small, but it doesn't change the fact that they're still a salty snack, with almost 20% fat.
Just one little pack has 14% of the upper level of daily sodium intake acceptable for an eight-year-old, and the fat comes from palm oil so it's mainly saturated. Like most salted savoury snacks, MAMEE Monster Noodle Snacks are best kept as treats, not everyday snacks.
