What we say
When kids sit down to watch a DVD, a bowl of popcorn is often the snack of choice. It has a reputation as a healthy snack, that's a better alternative to chips. While this is true for plain, unsalted and unbuttered popcorn, POPPIN Microwave Popcorn is a different kettle of fish. It might surprise you to hear that a single pack contains twice as much fat as a Mars bar, and it's salty to boot. It definitely falls into the 'treat' category of snacks.
A healthier option would be to grab a bag of kernels and prepare popcorn yourself on the stove using just a teaspoon of oil and a small pinch of salt to add a bit of flavour. Or look for brands of 'air popped' popcorn with minimal or no oil or salt used in production.
Additives listed: Antioxidants (306, 304), Annatto (160b).
