What we say

SWEET WILLIAM Chocolate Spread is a gluten-free, dairy-free, lactose-free and nut-free alternative to FERRERO Nutella, the chocolately hazelnut spread. And as the packaging states, it also contains 60% less sugar. This may be true, but it's still no health food. Oil and sugar are its second and third largest ingredients (after soy flour) so it still gets red lights for fat and sugar. Yes, it's low GI, but that doesn't always mean a food is healthy.

If you are going to give the kids the occasional sandwich with chocolate spread, try taking the curse off by avoiding butter or margarine and spreading it on wholemeal or wholegrain bread rather than fibre-flimsy white bread.

Additives listed: Soya Lecithin (322), Emulsifier (476).
