What we say
Gender wars start early these days and the latest battle is in the refrigerator cabinet of your local supermarket. YOPLAIT Go-Gurt Fruit Yogurt is aimed at little boys, instructing them to "Rip their heads off. Suck their guts out."
Nutritionally, they're very similar to the more girly YOPLAIT Smackers Fruitilicious Yogurt. YOPLAIT Go-Gurt Strawberry Fruit Yoghurt is low in fat but high in sugar. Milk, the biggest ingredient, will contribute some of that sugar. So will the splash of strawberry and pear juices. But there is more added sugar than strawberry or pear juice.
Yoghurt is a good source of calcium and protein for growing bodies. The Go-Gurts tubes are fun for kids and handy for lunchboxes and YOPLAIT suggests you try freezing them. There are certainly worse snacks to put in your child's lunchbox but for at-home eating try to find a yoghurt with less sugar and mix it with some fresh fruit.
Additives listed: thisckener (1442), pectin (440), agar (406), cochnineal (120), sodium citrate (331), malic acid (296).
